Lake Jackson Is Home
Rhonda Seth grew up in Brazoria County, and for the last 23 years has called Lake Jackson home. It is where she and her husband of nearly 10 years, Thomas, have laid down roots to raise their two young sons and the newest four-legged addition to their family, Bella Grae.
A Solid Work Ethic
Upon graduation from high school in 1995, Rhonda attended Brazosport College, where she earned 2 Associates Degrees in 2 years, and was a member of the Academic Honor Society, Phi Theta Kappa.
After college, Rhonda co-owned and operated a martial arts business in Lake Jackson for 15 years, where she trained for worldwide competitions as a member of the US Women’s Team in 2001 and 2002, and taught martial arts. Rhonda’s time as a small business owner in Lake Jackson was an invaluable experience that gave her an up-close look at how local governments impact small businesses.
Rhonda continued
her education, and while working full time, was fortunate to be the first
recipient of the Adelaide Thorpe academic scholarship in nursing school.
For the last 10
years, Rhonda has been serving the residents of Lake Jackson as a local emergency
room nurse, and continues her passion for inspiring the next generation as a clinical
instructor in Brazosport College’s nursing program.
A Strong Moral Character
As a former competitive
Taekwondo fighter and instructor, Rhonda instinctively incorporates the tenets
of the arts into everything she does. She is courteous. She has integrity. She
perseveres, and exemplifies both self-control and an indomitable spirit.
As a wife, mom, nurse and teacher, Rhonda is well-regarded for being an affable, dependable, sharp-witted and principled leader.
A Conservative Community Leader
Rhonda has served on various committees with the Brazosport Rotary Club as well as being active in the Lake Jackson community. Throughout the pandemic in 2020, Rhonda monitored and attended Lake Jackson City Council meetings, often standing to speak to provide input to Council on key issues, such as the budget and the highly-publicized water supply issue.
In 2019, after watching several missteps made by the then-state representative, Rhonda was the only candidate in the Texas House District 25 race to step-up to challenge the then-Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Dennis Bonnen.
Rhonda describes herself as an independent conservative. A staunch advocate for 2nd Amendment rights, smaller government, and greater transparency, Rhonda’s participation in local government and voice on local issues has fueled community-wide conversations with the hope of inspiring others to actively and collaboratively engage with local government leaders to enhance accountability.
